The Infinite One became an Infant

God had a miraculous plan to redeem us through His Son. The awe and wonder of it all!

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah out of you will come for me One who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” -Micah 5:2

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin[d] will conceive and give birth to a son, and[e] will call him Immanuel."- Isaiah 7:14

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."- Isaiah 9:6-7

Can you feel it? It's Christmas Eve and the world is preparing to celebrate. But what are they celebrating ? is it the right thing, the real thing, or something artificial and fake? If we don't know the real story than consumerism and santa stories threatens to steal the power and miracle of the real reason for the season.

You see the real story is the fulfillment of thousands of years of prophesy has been made real. The infinite One became an infant to save us and rescue us from our sin, shame, guilt and fear. No one else could do it. There was no other way. God the Son had to become Immanuel, God with us, so He could experience everything we experience in this broken world, and He took on flesh to be like us. Oh the joy and wonder of it all. That is what we should contemplate today in preparing our hearts to receive the Messiah that was born into the world through a teenage Virgin girl.

The precision of God is shocking. No detail is too small, and yet so beautiful in it's humility. Micah new it would come to be in a nowhere, backwoods Judean village named Bethlehem that the Anointed One would come at the anointed time. The world continued on and very few even bothered to take notice of the wiseman who had proclaimed to the religious leaders of the day in Jerusalem that the Savior was to be born in Bethlehem. The Romans carried on with their toga parties and wild living. The noise drowned out the miracle of what was about to take place.

Isaiah had foreseen it almost 700 years before it came to pass, and had prophesied how it would happen and what it would mean. God had shared His plan with a few Prophets that wrote what they heard and saw in their dreams and visions. Just like today, many rejected or ignored them completely just as they ignore Jesus today. It is much easier to pretend this never happened, and that way we can feel like we are in control of our own lives and don't have to pay attention to the Omnipotent, Omnipresence and Omniscient God. But God the Father loved us too much to just leave us alone in this world without hope or a lifeline back to Himself. Jesus had to come. He had to be born and ultimately be crucified as payment for our sins, so we could be reconciled back to Him through His Son's perfect life and sacrificial death. This is all so miraculous. This is so all consuming, so joyful, so wonderful. Will you stop long enough to consider what has really happened. This truly is the most important event in History. The Infinite One became an infant, Immanuel God with us, to give us all a chance for eternal life if we will receive Him. He is the only reason for the season. Let our hearts sing and rejoice. Hallelujah!
