Remove the Goo
We must remove the goo in our life to make more room for God.
Letting go of control is so hard. We feel so vulnerable at the very thought of giving control of our life over to someone else, even if it's God. But letting go is a big key to discovering deeper peace. When we trust God above even what we can see, or what our circumstances say we should feel, we can catch a glimpse of what it looks like to be set free, at least temporarily.
The rhythms of His grace mean you don’t have to strive or strain, you just need to let go and let His presence guide you. But we need to find time to remove the goo. The goo is all the sticky stuff in the world that keeps us from truly feeling God‘s presence in our life. The things that distract us like social media and the news etc. He wants to take us into a more intimate relationship, expose us to what He had in mind when he formed us, what He had in store for us when he made us. But in order to hear his still small voice, we must remove all the goo, turn off the noise and be still in his presence.
He also seeks a removing of all the masks we wear to make ourselves presentable, so that He living in us can be more present and more palpable and obvious to those who encounter us on a daily basis. He wants to be seen in us in a pure form, not a contrived or manipulated way, but in the purest sense. We are awakened to be transformed, we're not being punished, we're being purified when we let His presence reign in our life.
When the Lord draws you deeper what can feel like emptiness is actually the absence of false fuel. I have experienced this firsthand and it can feel very frightening. His absence can rock us and leave us feeling so confused. i think He is doing His major work in our life when He allows this to happen. He removes all the temporary structures that fuel our ego, which must be brought down, so that only the real you, the stronger you will be left to stand. Silence, stillness, and surrender are replacing performance and approval seeking. What comes next will not rise from pressure, it will rise from His presence. God begins to wean us off of false promises, and rewires our soul. The old engine is dead. The new more stronger engine is being built. The Lord is not punishing us in activity, He is preparing our true identity. This is not the death of purpose, it is the death of performance. The beginning of true calling, and it does not arrive with the trumpet, but rather with a whisper. We must remove all the goo so we can clearly hear it.
