Be Careful of Deception
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."- 1 Peter 5:8
"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness."- 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
The Bible says that satan's greatest tool in capturing souls is deception, and that many will be deceived in the last days because they refuse to believe who Christ is and instead they turn aside to myths. 2 Corinthians 4:4 powerfully makes this point as a warning to us all: "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." The devil is so full of deception that he even "masquerades as an angel of light," according to 2 Corinthians 11:14 So unless you are truly anchored in the word of God, you are a sitting duck for the deception of the enemy.
So what can you do to help yourself? Simple really: Ask God to help you! Read His living word in the Bible and pray and seek Him, and He promises in Matthew 7:7-8 that if you do you will find Him. Tell him how much you need Him, repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive you for your prideful rebellion against His sovereign authority over all His Creation, which includes you, and seek a new, more secure future in Him. Reading the Bible and knowing it is really the only true antidote against the malicious and deceptive attacks of the enemy.
