Jesus is our only true hope
Jesus taught more about money and wealth than any other subject. We should pay attention.
Jesus talked more about $ than any subject matter. Why was that? Because Jesus knew how important a role $ played in society and in people's hearts. He talked wisely about the blessings and the risks of money and wealth. He told many penetrating parables about $, inlcuding the parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:13-21 and the rich young man in Matthew 19:21-26. Jesus never said $ was bad, but only that the love of $ was evil because it could cause people to treat it as an idol, and forget their need to follow him and put him 1st in their lives. Jesus taught money can be used for great things ( see the story of the Good Samaritan ) but also for great harm. ( see the story of the Prodigal Son ) Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy your salvation, which is the most important thing!
The reality is that, whether we acknowledge our wealth or not, being rich is a serious disadvantage spiritually. As William Wilberfor once said, "Prosperity hardens the heart." After all, if wealth can solve every problem do we really need faith or God? Satan promised Jesus "all the kingdoms of this world" if he would follow him in Matthew 4:8-9 and he will surely do the same for you. In fact, It is the #1 tool he uses to destroy souls and keep people from recognizing their need for trusting in Jesus above all else.
Matthew 19:23-26 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
