Fires of Affliction

God uses the fires of affliction to build resiliency in us and to refine and strengthen us.

"See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.”- Isaiah 48:10-11

God's ways are so much higher than our ways, and so much different and they can be hard to understand at times. God often uses the fires of affliction to build strength and resiliency into us . Each test we pass builds another level of strength that wasn’t there before the test. Although it can be incredibly painful and scary, the fires of affliction are building in us a strength and resiliency that cannot be easily lost. Our adversities build endurance that otherwise would not be formed. Pain well learned often leads to mighty influence.

Many may not understand what God is doing in us during our wilderness experiences or when He pulls us out from the spotlight to isolate us so He can pour Himself into us in a deep and powerful way. This is like Navy Seal training for Christians and what we do when no one is watching is often the key time of preparation for when God gets ready to launch us into our destiny. Think about when David was alone in the wilderness tending his father's sheep and keeping them safe from both the lion and the bear. This was God preparing David for his eventual battle with Goliath . All David had to rely on was God and that is when he learned all about God's strength being all he needed. Many people may ridicule or misunderstand these moments in your life, but we should never resent them for that. God works in such a personal way in each person's life that they can never truly know what fires God has been using to prepare His servants.

In the meantime, we are strengthened by scripture and through prayers that sustain us for when the preparation meets opportunity and destiny is created. "Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light.”- Micah 7:8
