Blessed are the peacemakers.
As violence increases, so does the need for us as believers to be peacemakers.
God highly values peacemakers. He says “Blessed are the peacemakers
for they will be called children of God.”- Matthew 5:9 My question right now for all the earth is Where are all the peacemakers?
The systematic violence we see on the earth right now, such as the killing of Charlie Kirk yesterday by assassination, shows that the spiritual battle between God and satan as outlined in Ephesians 6:12 and Galatians 5 is raging and people are getting caught up in it. We have lost track of our emotions and humanity, and we are being manipulated online to hate anyone we disagree with. We are supposed to love one another as Jesus taught, but 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8 and 2 Timothy 3:1-6 talks about the spirit of the antichrist that is alive on the earth right now that is leading to chaos and these horrific tragedies.
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming”- 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”- 2 Timothy 3:1-5
We must turn from violence, and turn to love. God is moving on the earth right now and there is a great juxtaposition happening: evil is increasing and so is revival, as God is pouring out His Spirit on all people, as Joel 2:27-28 says. Let us cling to Christ and share His love with those that the enemy "has taken captive to do his will." as 2 Timothy 2:25-26 says. Let's be the peacemakers this earth desperately needs.
