Bible For Dummies 15
When we see the pictures from Artemis 2, the awe and wonder of God's Creation should take our breath away.
I am creating a new series called The Bible For Dummies. It is not meant as a condescending title, but rather an attempt to see deep biblical truths that are easy to apply to our lives for better living in a distracted and busy world. So many people feel stressed and overwhelmed. Many people are carrying heavy wounds. Jesus can heal and restore all. He's the only one.
When we see the breathtaking pictures being sent back to us from deep space by Artemis 2, it can be overwhelming to consider how vast our Universe really is. I mean Planet Earth is just a tiny blue dot floating in space that looks like the size of a bread crumb. If that is true of our planet, than how small are we? It's all very humbling to consider, but in some ways very helpful in reminding us to not take ourselves so seriously. We are infinitesimal beings living on a planet that compared to our Universe is a speck floating through space. The Bible also tells us our lives our just a vapor, a mist, like dust that appears for a few years and than is no more. That can be depressing in and of itself.
But then it tells us something even more amazing: God knows us by name and with such precision that even the hairs on our head are numbered. ( Psalm 139 ) He also loves us beyond comprehension ( John 3:16 ) and He has an eternal plan for us that includes a new body that will never get sick or die again. ( 2 Corinthians 5, 15 and Revelation 21-22 ) Now that gets our eyes on the promises of God that can take our stress away and truly help us to just live and be overwhelmed by the awe and wonder of all God has created. Then the pictures from Artemis 2 can just blow us away and help us remember our place in the world compared to God who Created it all!
Colossians 1:15-17 says "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Thank you Jesus!
