Bible For Dummies 12.

Faith is the essence of believing in what you can't yet see.

I am creating a new series called The Bible For Dummies. It is not meant as a condescending title, but rather an attempt to see deep biblical truths that are easy to apply to our lives for better living in a distracted and busy world. So many people feel stressed and overwhelmed. Many people are carrying heavy wounds. Jesus can heal and restore all. He's the only one.

The very definition of faith is believing in what we cannot yet see. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says "For we live by faith, not by sight." When we trust in Jesus, we can be sure that He is guiding us on a path that is the best for us and the most exhilarating, even when we can't see how we're going to accomplish something. Surrender is required, and learning to embrace uncertainty is a must.

We must get used to the fact we won't always know the how, or often the why, but we always know the Who, and the Who is Jesus, the very reason for our faith.  As we learn to rely more on Him, we begin to understand how important prayer is. It connects us right to the power source. It increases our wisdom and discernment over time, and causes us to be bold in our requests. We learn when we thank God after He answers our prayers that’s called gratitude; when we thank God before he answers our prayers, that’s called faith. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He will make a way in the wilderness, as Isaiah 43:19 proclaims. Do you trust Him enough to follow Him? That's the very nature of faith itself!
