Who's on the throne?
We need to stop pretending we are in control.
"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."- Proverbs 16:9
One of my mentors told me early that if I wanted to make God laugh, I should tell Him my plans. Proverbs 16:9 seems to confirm the foolishness in that thinking. We must realize that the single hardest thing for us to do in our life is to take ourselves off of the throne and put God there, where He rightly belongs.
Many people want to follow a god, as long as it doesn't cost them anything and they don't have to surrender their illusion of control. Christianity requires a complete surrender of control from us to God. I have found that while it is hard, it is also for my good. When I am in control, I tend to make a mess of things through my poor choices. God is 1st and I am 2nd. Esy to say, but hard to do, however that alignment works much better in the long run.
