Time for reflection
Time for reflection is always a worthy use of our time.
As we come upon the 249th birthday of America, I am feeling a calling to reflect on many things. I am grateful for our Country and the freedoms we have, including most of all the freedom to worship God in an open and public way. Many Countries prohibit worship of God, instead they want their political party or leadership to be the center of the citizenry's adoration. Thankfully, that is not the case in America. So with that, here are a few thoughts of reflecting upon who God is and what that means for us as believers.
REFLECT- With all that’s going on in the world do you take time to reflect on lessons from the past and blessings in your life that are worthy of praising God? Let’s look at some benefits of reflection:
R= Remember the past faithfulness of God. “For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”- Psalm 108:4
E= Encourage one another. Times are tough and people need encouragement. “that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”- Romans 1:12
F= Forgiveness of others as Christ has forgiven us. This removes us from spiritual bondage. “But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”- Psalm 130:4
L= Learning more about God and ingesting His wisdom is a lifelong pursuit with great rewards. “Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.- Proverbs 9:9
E= Endurance is required to run the race of life God has for us as there will be many obstacles. “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”-Romans 15:4
C= Compassion is one of God’s attributes for us, and we should share it with others who are hurting in this broken world. “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”- Psalm 103:8
T= Trust in Him when you can’t see a way forward. Trust in Him above all else. “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”- Psalm 91:2
