Pruning is necessary for growth

Pruning is necessary because purpose is greater than comfort.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."-John 15:1-2

Pruning is so painful, but it is necessary to create room for future growth. God must prune away things you look to other than him for your security, for your purpose, or for your abundance, and this can feel very uncomfortable or even painful. But He knows exactly what you need and He knows what has to be cut back in order to create room for the new He is bringing. Pruning is temporarily painful but it creates room for new and healthier growth and removes cluttered areas that sap strength from the Vine.

God knows that your roots must be deep and firmly planted in order that you can handle the weight of what he is going to bring in the future. God doesn’t prune to break us, He prunes us to build us. He is the master craftsman, and He knows exactly what needs to be taken away, and what needs to be added.

This can be disorienting and confusing as God realigns the chest pieces in your life, but we must trust in his perfect will and his perfect timing, and this may lead to discouragement. But that discouragement will be replaced by intense purpose, and focus as things you used to rely upon our stripped away and only what you were created for remains. Things that rob your energy and attention will be replaced by things that bring deep peace and flow easily. You will be blessed to be a blessing and use whatever gifts you have been given for His glory.

The forging that takes place amid the fiery trials of affliction is what helps build the character traits needed to not only handle but sustain when the blessings come. Refinement through the fire is God‘s way of burning out all the impurities in our life and making us stronger to be able to handle what He is bringing in the future that is meant to bless others. This cannot take place in our comfort zone zones so the restlessness in the pruning process we feel is preparing us to get out of our comfort zones and to focus solely on God so he can lead us step-by-step through the path He has marked down for us. God doesn't allow pain without a much deeper purpose. Pruning can be painful, but the end result will be a stronger and more prepared you that is able to carry the weight of His blessings for His glory. Purpose is greater than comfort!

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 1:6
