Abundant Life

The mindset of God is abundance. The mindset of the enemy is scarcity. Which will you choose?

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."- Psalm 23:1

We have such a loving and giving God. He always has been chasing us down and providing for us all the days of our lives, and He asks for very little in return. All He wants from us is to receive His Son, who has also freely given to us. In fact, God is a God of abundance and all we need to do is freely receive all He has prepared for us. The problem many of us face is we only equate abundance with financial means, which change from season to season and never truly satisfy. The mindset around money can make us feel like we lack if we don't have all we think we need, or If you have a lot we can think we don't need to depend on God as much. Both of these mindsets can be equally damaging in their own way. I have experienced both and it is a challenge to view all that God has done for us if we are looking at our lives through this very narrow lens, which is where most people judge the quality of their life. This is a very unstable mindset to have.

if we widen our lens, we can see that God's love is abundant and we truly lack nothing if we truly seek Him 1st, as Jeremiah 29:13 implores us. When we take time to remember all He has done for us, and as King David wrote above because God is our Shepherd we truly lack nothing. The enemy wants to give us a mindset of scarcity, but God gives us abundance all around. He gives us so much that we need for abundant life when we simply read Scriptures and pray. He gives us abundant peace, abundant wisdom, abundant patience, abundant grace, abundant growth, abundant beauty in creation all around, abundant sunsets and sunrises, abundant forgiveness and mercy, and abundant love as loving Father to His children. He has been giving of us His whole life, but have we been too busy or rebellious in our pride to notice?

The crazy world we live in with chaos and frenzy all around as we try to seek affirmation from all the wrong places, cannot satisfy and will never live up to the abundance God can provide. He has never left us or forsaken us, as Hebrews 13:5 says, even when we ran far away from Him or rebelled against His Sovereignty over all things. God gave us what cost Him the most, His Son Jesus, so we could pay the least for the sin debt we owed. All we have to do is say yes to Jesus. When we do, the abundant life will begin to emerge, one small miracle at a time.
