Love Poured Out!
God is love and he chased us down to prove it!
"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."- Colossians 1:15-17
I love that God chose to draw near to us through His Son Jesus. He came to walk with us in the mess of this world and our lives, to comfort us in sorrow, to bless us with his grace and mercy, to forgive us in our sin and shame, and to love us in a way that no one else can. He can relate to our sufferings because He also experienced them personally and in the flesh. Hebrews 2:17-18 is a great reminder of how Jesus knows what we feel, because He felt it also in his humanity "For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted."
God came down to us wrapped in flesh so He could dwell among us. He isn't some cosmic, abstract being that we can't relate to. He is the epitome of love and His pursuit of us through Jesus and then our ability to be in constant fellowship with Him through the indwelling Holy Spirit shows us how much He loves us, and how valuable we are to Him. He wants us to know Him, and in Jesus He made a way. We are His prized creation, no matter how much of a mess we have made of our lives. Never forget He proved that on the Cross, when His love was poured out on us, as Jesus absorbed the penalty of our sin and shame so we could be set free for all of eternity!
