Jesus loved teaching on money. We should learn from Him.

Money isn't bad, but the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

Jesus taught more about money than any other sublect. Why did He do this? Because He understood the critical role it plays not only in the world, but also in the spiritual battles. The best way to describe Jesus's thoughts on money is this: Money isn't good or bad, it's necessary and neutral. It can be used for great good ( helping others ) or great harm (fill in the blank.) The love of money is a big worry, ( see 1 Timothy 6:10 ) because If we can solve all of our problems with money, than why do we need God at all? This is expressed in the story of the rich young ruler in Luke 18 who goes away sad because Jesus tells him what is hindering his faith is his love of money and posessions.

But the biggest issue is that money can cause us to be lukewarm towards our faith and that is something that greatly harms us. In fact, Jesus says in one of the scariest lines in the whole Bible in Revelation 3:16 "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth." In other words, it is repulsive to Jesus that you would get a taste of His love, goodness, sacrifice and the eternal power of His kingdom and then decide you would just shrug your shoulders, and turn back to some temporal pleasure. That is disgusting to the Lord. Money has it's place, but it's never to be at the expense of our love for Jesus and putting him 1st in our lives. Rememebr the 1st commandment in Exodus 20:3 is "You shall have no other gods before me." So don't let money become a god you put before the real God.
