Bible For Dummies 20.
We need to remember God's past faithfulness to remove our doubt
I am creating a new series called The Bible For Dummies. It is not meant as a condescending title, but rather an attempt to see deep biblical truths that are easy to apply to our lives for better living in a distracted and busy world. So many people feel stressed and overwhelmed. Many people are carrying heavy wounds. Jesus can heal and restore all. He's the only one.
There is a recurring theme in the Bible that we can all relate to and that is doubt. We doubt that God will come through for us, even though He has time and time again. Take heart the Disciples of Jesus, who walked with Him daily for 3 years, were the same way. They would see Jesus do miracle after miracle, and He called them into the miracles so they would participate, like when He had them feed the 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish in Matthew 14, and then a storm would come up and they would think they were going to die. Every time a new challenge or trial came up, they always forgot who Jesus was or what He had previously done right before their eyes. Heal the sick, the blind see, the deaf hear and the mute speak, but Jesus how are we going to make it to land in this storm?
Sounds familiar right? It is true in my life and I am sure in yours. Doubt thrives when we fail to remind ourselves of what God has done. We become too focused on our current circumstances and lose sight of who He is. So often, we suffer from spiritual amnesia when a new problem arises. We forget the Red Seas He parted or the giants He helped us face yesterday because we are so focused on the difficulty of today. But let us always remember our faith is fueled when we take the time to remember and meditate on the awesome deeds God has already performed in our lives. We need to take time alone each day away from the noise and just remember and praise Him. That will help a lot. #doughallmedia #thewell #doubt
