Seek Him 1st

There's 1440 minutes in a day. How many do you spend in God's presence? Like any healthy relationship, time spent is a measure of commitment and love.

Matthew 6:33-34 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” As Christians we must put God 1st if we want to see Him really move in our lives. Our hearts must be postured towards Him in all we do. We seek His wisdom, discernment, peace, strength, love, above all else. This can be a challenging thought but it’s also instructive if we want to truly seek God 1st, above all else.

There are 1440 minutes in each day. How many minutes do we spend seeking Him in prayer, in quiet time, in reading scripture? Like any important relationship in your life, like with your spouse or children, the more time you spend together, the better your relationship will be. If you are honest with yourself, you can just start today and begin the journey of thinking of God more and begin the process of praying, listening, and reading scripture more. If it’s only 5 minutes a day at first then it’s ok. He will draw you to Himself and work in you to desire Him more and more. This can be as simple as worship music in the car and singing out your heart to Him. Seeing Him in the beautiful Creation all around you every day.

Noticing Him in all the ways He is holding you together when your whole life can feel like it’s falling apart. He is constant, He never changes and He is always available. How much time will you give Him? Let that both inspire and challenge you this week. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”- Jeremiah 29:13
