Psalm 6:3-4 “My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love."
It is ok to cry out to the Lord in anguish. In fact, I believe it is necessary when we don;t understand to take our yearnings and even our complaints right to the throne room of God. I believe He appreciates and honors our authenticity and acknowledgement that we are in distress and we don’t always understand His ways. I think we need to be real and not rote when we go to the Lord in prayer. I believe we need to have a relationship with Him that is as genuine as we would have with our own spouse or our children. In Psalm 6:3 above, David is pleading with the Lord and letting Him know that He can”t take his circumstances much longer. He is at his breaking point, Have you ever felt like that? I sure have and it gives me great comfort to know David has as well. But sometimes our breaking point can be our turning point when we come to the very end of our rope. Maybe that is when we encounter the real risen God of the Universe. Maybe when we see how helpless we are to change our circumstances when we are finally willing to let God in and hand Him the keys to the car that He has wanted all along. Surrender may be the start of a new boss in our life, One who knows exactly what we need way more than we do.
