God often doesn't provide us a map, only a promise to walk with us on our journey.
Walking with God often means we will be rejected by man. This can be very painful as we may lose dear friends who simply don't understand we are under new management. Alignment with God means we often must walk alone. Others may not walk the path God has chosen for us. When God called Abraham in Genesis chapter 12, He didn't tell him where he was going, only to trust him. It must have been a little scary but Abraham obeyed God. "The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you." Genesis 12:1 Then God gave Abraham an incredible promise, one that most likely took much of his fears away as he focused on the promise and not his ever changing circumstances: "I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." genesis 12:2-3
Likewise, Christ is interested in shaping servants and the more God wants to do through you the more work he needs to do in you. God often gives us, like he did Abraham, a promise but not a map. He wants to test our obedience. He’s preparing us for a future leadership position or legacy that can be established. Will you trust and obey Him?
