Get out of the Boat
Real life happens when we leave our comfort zones behind and get out of the boat like Peter did.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
For God to really use us and give us the most exhilarating life, we have to be courageous enough to leave our comfort zones and step out in faith. This is so hard because in our flesh, we love the idea of comfort. But here's the real problem from a Christian perspective around the idea of comfort: Nothing great ever started in comfort. Jesus can't use us to fulfill our destiny if we are solely focused on our comfort. It’s not about safety. It’s about stretching. Comfort keeps you in the boat, like the 11 disciples who stayed in, but stretching let’s you walk on the water like Peter did. he may have been ridiculed by the 11 when he began to sink but at least he experienced a life changing moment; he walked on the water!
Comfortable people don’t change the world. Comfort squashes you’re calling. Greatness is always one uncomfortable decision away. One courageous decision away because it is way easier to choose comfort. I know because this is always my natural inclination. Yet God is speaking to me: "You’re calling is meant to be forged in fire, it will require faith, not comfort." It will bring you to your knees in prayer- but maybe that is a very good thing as it draws you closer to God. It will be greater than anything you can imagine. You weren’t created to stay in the shallow water of your comfort zone you were created to head into the deep water where you must live by faith. Don’t chase crumbs when God has prepared a kingdom. You can’t receive more when your hands are still full of what’s less. Let go and let God lead you where He destined you to go. I won't be comfortable but it will be life changing. I pray this for myself, and for you. Let's get out of the boat so we can be used by the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords for His glory and our deep fulfillment.
